Wat de Lonely Planet zegt

De Lonely Planet van Engeland besteedt een halve kolom aan Wolverhampton:

"Another town defined largely by its industrial past, Wolverhampton could not be called pretty. But it's a welcoming place and there are a couple of attractions that are worth a look."

 Over de Midlands schrijft ze:

"Forget what the snobs say about the Midlands. Yes, the cities are scarred from WWII bombings. Yes, the 1950s' town planning was pathologically drab, and there are some bleak urban landscapes - what do you expect in the area that gave the world the Industrial Revolution? But the cities are vibrant and brim with influences from a hundred different nations, while the nightlife, restaurants and shopping give that uppity London a run for its money - and a thorough drubbing when it comes to value."

Ik verwacht voor iedereen die mij komt bezoeken de geschikte zondagbesteding te vinden!

Of ik het heel bezwaarlijk vind om voor twee nachten de flat te delen

Vandaag kreeg ik een lange mail van Georgiana, de collega van wie ik de flat in Wolverhampton ga onderhuren. Een ingewikkeld verhaal over vliegtickets van en naar Roemenië, met als gevolg dat ze tussen 9 en 13 januari in Wolverhampton is in plaats van in Roemenië. Of ik het heel bezwaarlijk vind om voor twee nachten de flat te delen. Ze maakt het meteen aanlokkelijk door te schrijven:

"We will be able to wait for you and show you around Wolverhampton, and of course install you in the flat. This is a good thing, as we will inform you about anything you need to know and show you around."

Dus ik maak er geen bezwaar van.
Ondertussen heb ik in even opgezocht of ik Pilates kan doen ik Wolverhampton (want daar ben ik de afgelopen maanden toch wel erg aan gehecht geraakt), en inderdaad! Bovendien ligt het universitair sportcentrum zo'n beetje bij Georgina's/mijn flat om de hoek.
